Format

The painting Mother is a compositionally pure, centrally constructed work that works with the archetype of protection and unconditional love. The motif of a child hidden in the arms, formed into the shape of a heart, is set within an unfolded rose flower. The work appears calm, closed and focused – it is not dynamic, but contemplative.

The strong central symmetry and circular layering of the petals creates a sense of a safe space in which life is born and protected.

Composition and symbolism

The composition is strictly radial. The rose fills almost the entire pictorial space and functions as a protective envelope – a natural mandala. The child is placed in the center, surrounded by a heart shape created by the mother's hands or wings.
